Gameful Design for Skills Development among Urban Poor Youths in South Africa
To reduce poverty and crime rate, youths need to be gainfully employed. For the youths to be gainfully employed, the South African economy requires employable skills which is of shortage. Youths in South African underserved communities find it difficult to be gainfully employed since they are unskilled or low-skilled (Stats SA, 2018). There is a possibility that gamified-learning can play a huge role in South African youths in disadvantaged communities to encourage, engage and enhance the process of youths gaining employable skills. While the use of technology in education (especially in higher education) has brought changes to the way learning is disseminated, this study looks at researching ways in which gamified technology can play a role in gaining employable skills in an informal way. Design anthropological approach is proposed as the research methodology.
