Call for Papers: ID4A 2019

Call for Papers:

Innovative Development for Africa

iD4A-2019
“An ICT4D Postgraduate Conference”

Description

The field of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) brings
together various disciplines to address human development challenges with the aid of
information technologies. This relies on the multidisciplinary interaction and collaboration
of different stakeholders. Unfortunately, participation of African scholars in this space is
sparse and often occurs in silos. There is, therefore, an urgent need to strengthen the
collaboration of African Scholars to further grow the field and forge new opportunities.
The iD4A conference aims to build local capacity of postgraduate researchers in ICT4D
and related fields to collaborate, learn and share possibilities of leveraging technology as
a means of contributing towards the human development in Africa. The conference is
jointly hosted by the University of Cape Town, Cape Peninsula University of Technology,
University of the Western Cape and Stellenbosch University.

We welcome all postgraduate students from the Western Cape, South Africa and beyond
working in research involving ICTs and development to be part of iD4A. A broad category
of contributions relating to development and technology are welcome, including but not
limited to:

  • Health and Nutrition
  • Education and Access
  • Livelihoods
  • Digital and Financial inclusion
  • Collaboration and Openness in ICT
  • Agriculture and Environment
  • E-government and E-governance
  • Inclusive Technologies
  • ICTs and Impact
  • Smart Townships

The top submissions will be invited to submit a full paper based on the abstract which
will be fast-tracked to a special issue in the Transdisciplinary Journal (TD) which is a DHET accredited journal.
